Bert Smith & Co. Announces Newest Clients
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 15, 2007 – The accounting firm of Bert Smith & Company has taken on two new clients, the firm announced today. According to Managing Partner George S. Willie, CPA, CGFM, the firm has been hired to provide accounting services to the U.S. Virgin Islands Lottery, one of the oldest lotteries in the Western Hemisphere, and the Arca Foundation, a unique grantmaking organization based in the nation's capital.
The U.S. Virgin Islands Lottery engagement will involve an audit of the basic financial statements, as well as the accompanying management's discussion and analysis, for the year ended September 30, 2006. Bert Smith & Company will be responsible for the delivery of these services in association with Francisco Depusoir. During more than 50 years of operation, the Virgin Islands Lottery has paid out hundreds of millions of dollars in prizes, and pays all of its own operating expenses, including an award-winning advertising campaign.
The accounting firm has also been hired to audit the statement of financial position and related statements of activities and cash flows for the Arca Foundation for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2006. The Foundation, originally established in 1952 as the Nancy Reynolds Bagley Foundation, was renamed in 1968 with the Italian word for "ark" to better reflect the organization's covenant with the community. Today, the Foundation provides grantmaking focused on empowering citizens in the U.S. and abroad to help shape public policy.
According to Mr. Willie, "We are extremely pleased to begin serving both of these organizations, and are proud to add them to our portfolio of clients. The fact that we have begun these relationships at roughly the same time is especially gratifying, as they represent the great diversity of organizations that have come to rely on us for our accounting services."
Bert
Smith & Company includes more than 60 CPAs and management consultants
who serve clients in government agencies, healthcare, nonprofits,
associations and education. The firm provides a full range of accounting
services to commercial clients, and has provided accounting services

as well as federal government agencies and numerous cities, counties,
